Instagram takes on Youtube with IGTV
Instagram is ready to take on youtube with it’s biggest update IGTV. Thanking the billion strong community, Kevin Systrom, Co-Founder and CEO of instagram, announced the update. Users can watch the videos on the stanalone IGTV app or in the Instagram app itself. Unlike other video apps you don’t have to search for videos, the videos from creators who you follow will show on your feed and will play automatically.
Users will be able to post 10 minute long videos, while people with larger following can upload videos upto 1 hour long. IGTV will have an standalone iOS and Android app. Users will also get notifications for new content from IGTV button in the Instagram app. The videos will be in vertical format, “It’s mobile first. It’s simple and quality. That’s IGTV”, said Kevin. Users will now be able to upload videos from desktops also, which was not possible till now.
Initially there will be no ads in IGTV videos but will be afte sometime. Kevin said that he wanted creators to make a sustainable income by letting them monetize their videos in future. Kevin also said that IGTV will be more engaging and emotional than Youtube.
